What is an AI dashboard builder?
An AI dashboard builder turns a plain-language request into a working dashboard: it picks the metrics, writes the queries, lays out the charts and connects them to live data. Bruin is one, built into a data platform, so the dashboard runs on governed data, refreshes itself, can be edited by chatting, and can explain a wrong number by tracing it back through the pipeline.
How does Bruin build a dashboard from one prompt?
You describe the dashboard the way you would brief an analyst, for example 'CAC payback, LTV/CAC and net revenue retention by cohort'. Bruin reads your connected sources, chooses the KPIs and charts, writes and runs the SQL, and returns a live dashboard with filters, usually in under a minute. Every chart shows the query behind it.
Which data sources can a Bruin dashboard use?
Warehouses and databases such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, Postgres and MySQL, and business tools such as Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce, Shopify, GA4, Meta Ads, Google Ads, Mixpanel, Intercom and Zendesk, with thousands more through APIs. One dashboard can combine several of them, because ingestion and modelling are part of the same platform.
Are the dashboards live, and how often do they refresh?
Yes. A Bruin dashboard is connected to your data, not a copy of it. It refreshes on the schedule of the pipelines underneath it, hourly or daily for most teams, and you can refresh it on demand. Filters and date ranges query live data.
Can I change a dashboard after it is built?
Yes, in the same chat. Add a chart, change a breakdown, swap a metric or restrict a filter by describing the change, and Bruin edits the dashboard in place. You never rebuild from scratch, and every version keeps its queries.
Can I ask why a number looks wrong?
Yes, and this is where Bruin differs from BI tools. Because it owns the pipelines that feed the dashboard, it can trace a number back through the models to the source table, tell you whether a load failed or a definition changed, and fix the pipeline when that is the cause.
Can non-technical people build dashboards? Do I need SQL?
No SQL is needed. Founders, marketers, finance and operations teams build dashboards in Bruin by describing them. Engineers can still open and edit the generated SQL and models, so the two sides work on the same thing.
Do I need a data warehouse or a BI tool set up first?
No. If you have a warehouse, Bruin queries it in place. If you do not, it sets one up during onboarding and loads your sources into it. There is no separate BI licence, semantic layer project or ETL tool to buy before the first dashboard.
Can I share dashboards, send them on a schedule, or export them?
Yes. Every dashboard has a shareable link, so the team opens the live version instead of a screenshot. Any dashboard or report can also be sent on a schedule to wherever your team reads it, and exported as PDF or slides for board and investor updates. Alerts can fire when a metric moves past a threshold.
How is this different from Power BI Copilot, Tableau Agent or Looker's conversational analytics?
Those assistants sit on top of a BI tool that still needs a modelled dataset, a licence and someone to maintain the semantic layer, and they mostly produce single charts or answers. Bruin builds the whole dashboard from one prompt, edits it in chat, and includes ingestion, transformation, quality checks and lineage in the same product, so it can also tell you why a number is wrong.
How is it different from asking ChatGPT or Claude to make a chart?
A general assistant charts the data you paste in, once, with no connection to your systems. Bruin's dashboards are connected to live sources, refresh themselves, are shared with your team, and every number carries its query. Bruin also exposes an MCP server, so Claude Code and other agents can use it as their data layer.
Is my data secure, and where does it live?
Your data stays in your own warehouse and is queried in place. Bruin is SOC 2 Type 2 attested and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified, supports SSO and role-based access, and can run in Bruin's cloud or your VPC with private connectivity.
