Build a scenario planner

This is optional inspiration, not a required part of creating a data app. A read-only app can be complete on its own. Use these patterns when you want to add scenario controls or carefully scoped actions.

A scenario planner is a useful data app when people need to test assumptions but should not change source data. Ask for inputs, calculated outputs, and a clear comparison with the baseline.

Build a revenue scenario planner using the available forecast and actuals data. Let users adjust expected price, deal volume, win rate, retention, and cost with sliders or input controls. Recalculate projected revenue, gross margin, and the gap to plan immediately. Show the baseline next to the scenario, a monthly chart, and the largest drivers of the change. Let a user save a named scenario only after they review the assumptions and click a confirmation control. Do not modify the source forecast or actuals data.

For a more operational version, include the person who owns the assumption and a review state:

Add a scenario review list with owner, last updated time, assumptions, and status. Make scenarios read-only after approval. Show a comparison between any two saved scenarios.
