Vertica integration

Vertica data, in your warehouse.

A built-in ingestr connector: add credentials, pick tables, schedule it.

name: raw.table
type: ingestr
parameters:
  source_connection: vertica
  source_table: '<table>'
  destination: snowflake
  incremental_strategy: merge

$ bruin run assets/raw/vertica.asset.yml

  1. extract · Vertica dataincremental
  2. load · snowflake raw.datamerged
  3. checks · not_null, unique

Loaded and checked. Downstream models can run.

How it connects

Connected in three steps.

Vertica is a columnar, massively parallel processing (MPP) analytical database built for large-scale analytics, available on-premises, in the cloud, and as a free Community Edition. ingestr supports Vertica as both a source and a destination.

  1. 01

Add a Vertica connection with its credentials.

  2. 02

Pick the tables to load and how: replace, append or merge.

  3. 03

Bruin runs it on your schedule and checks every load.

Connection parameters

username
the Vertica user (required)
password
the password for the user
host
the Vertica hostname or IP address

the Vertica port (default: 5433)
database

tlsmode
TLS behavior — none (default, plaintext), prefer (TLS if the server supports it), server (TLS with CA verification), or server-strict (also verifies the hostname). Use tlsmode=server or tlsmode=server-strict over untrusted networks.
autocommit
1 to enable (default) or 0 to disable autocommit.
usepreparedstatements
1 to use server-side prepared statements (default) or 0 to disable them.
connectionloadbalance
1 to let the server redirect the connection across nodes for load balancing (off by default).
backupservernode
a comma-separated list of host:port pairs to fail over to if the primary host is unreachable.

Where can Vertica data go?

Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift, ClickHouse, Postgres, DuckDB, MotherDuck, Microsoft Fabric and more, plus files on S3 and GCS.

How fresh is the data?

As fresh as your schedule. Incremental loads append, merge or replace a time window, every few minutes if you like.

Do we need Bruin Cloud?

No. The Bruin CLI and ingestr run locally, in CI or in your own orchestrator. Bruin Cloud adds scheduling, lineage, alerts and the AI data analyst on top.
